Emmy-Award Winning Actress & Mom Creates All Natural Skin Care Line for Babies (And Adults)

At the tender age of three, director, writer, and Emmy-award winning actress, Melanie Mayron was an unofficial “taste tester,” for children’s flavored cough syrups. Raised in a suburb of Philadelphia, her pharmaceutical chemist dad, David worked for a company that wanted the cough syrup flavors to be good enough for kids to not spit it out when they had to take it—Melanie was appointed to the post by her Dad and a willing participant. Her real dream as a little girl, though, was to one day become an actress…fast forward to the year 2009.

For over thirty years, Melanie Mayron has successfully contributed to the television and film industries. Schooled at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, a student of Lee Strasberg, and a member of the Actors Studio, Mayron's career highlights include acting roles in television and films, most recently in "Lipstick Jungle" on NBC. She is best known for the role of 'Melissa' in "Thirtysomething," the award-winning indie film "Girl Friends," Costa Gavras' "Missing," and her own "Sticky Fingers" which she co-produced, co-wrote, and starred in. She has recently directed episodes of "Tell Me You Love Me" and "In Treatment" on HBO, "90210," "Lipstick Jungle," and "Greek;" and the features, "The Babysitter's Club" and "Slap Her She's French."

It was the role of motherhood, however, which inspired her return to her roots and rekindle her formative years in modern chemistry with her Father. Before the birth of her children ten years ago, Mayron approached her Dad about formulating a natural diaper and barrier cream that was safe enough to use at every diaper change. A partnership was born and the two decided to launch a new natural skin care line called Mayron's Good Baby. Twelve years in development, the product line has been a family affair—down to the selection of each and every ingredient.

"The entire Mayron's Good Baby natural skin care line is free from synthetic fragrances, paraben, sodium lauryl sulfate, and DEA," says Melanie Mayron. She adds, "It was a wonderful experience to work with my father on the creation of these natural products."

The father and daughter team recently introduced their first product, the Mayron’s Good Baby “Our Best” Barrier and Diaper Cream and have gone on to create a number of additional products to be released in the spring of 2009. In the next few months they will be offering up “Tangerine” Baby Oil, “Really Good” Hydrating Body Milk, “Gentle” Head to Toe Shampoo, “Chapped Cheek and Lip Protector,” and “Sleepless Night” Cream.

David Mayron’s career in pharmaceutical chemistry has been very interesting and of historical note. He first began working at Wyeth Labs and then Smith, Kline Beecham where he obtained a patent on the time release tablet. He also worked on the formulations for Tagamet and numerous other well-known drugs still in use today. David Mayron opened Mayron Research Laboratories about 20 years ago in Hatfield, Pennsylvania. He brings over forty-four plus years of experience to the development of the Mayron’s Good Baby Natural Line of Skin Care.

Melanie’s mother Norma, a breast cancer survivor, has been incredibly supportive of Mayron’s Good Baby. Melanie wanted to represent her mother, who is now in good health in this effort as well. Mayron’s Good Baby donates regularly to Women’s Health Research and other medical research organizations that specialize in women’s health.

Mayron’s Good Baby is the result of a huge effort by the Mayron’s family. Melanie’s sister Gale Mayron has also formulated a skin care line with her Dad called Jao: www.jaoltd.com.
